TierPoint, a U.S. provider of cloud hosting, colocation, managed services and disaster recovery solutions, has announced the acquisition of AlteredScale – a Chicago-based provider of data center services including cloud, colocation and managed services. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The new 107,000 square feet facility includes approximately 25,000 square feet of colocation data center space and has undergone extensive renovations and upgrades since being purchased by AlteredScale in 2011.
“Chicago adds an important market to our national data center footprint, strengthening our presence in the Midwest,” said Jerry Kent, Chairman and CEO of TierPoint. “This acquisition was precipitated by significant customer interest in TierPoint expanding to Chicago and we have already begun installing the infrastructure for a long-term major client. It’s a great market, top ten in tech startups, and I believe our focus on providing unrivaled service and local support will be well received in Chicago.”
The acquisition is the tenth for TierPoint, LLC. On October 19, 2015, the company announced the signing of a definitive agreement to purchase Windstream Hosting Solutions. That transaction is expected to close this month.
Upon closing both acquisitions, TierPoint will own and operate more than 525,000 square feet of colocation data center space in 19 U.S. markets. With its corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, TierPoint operates highly-redundant, carrier-neutral data centers in the states of Illinois, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Florida.
