TierPoint Announces Third Major Expansion Project For Its New York Data Center Expansion, Invests $13 Million

TierPoint, a U.S. provider of hybrid IT solutions with 40 data centers in 20 markets and 8 multi-tenant cloud pods, connected by a coast-to-coast network, is significantly increasing its capacity to serve the New York metropolitan area and Northeast region through an expansion of its Hawthorne data center campus.

“This data center expansion will further enhance our ability to meet growing demand, especially for customers in the financial industry who count on ultra-low latency network connectivity to midtown and lower Manhattan,” said John Vernazza, Regional Vice President, TierPoint.

Today, the Hawthorne campus includes a recovery and business continuity center with over 70,000 square feet and a data center with 52,000 square feet of raised floor. TierPoint’s current expansion plan anticipates adding over 38,000 square feet of raised floor, more than a third of which (13,500 square feet) will be added in a first $13-million expansion phase that’s expected to be customer-ready November 2017.

“This expansion will further enhance our ability to meet growing demand, especially for customers in the financial industry who count on ultra-low latency network connectivity to midtown and lower Manhattan,” said John Vernazza, Regional Vice President, TierPoint. “Because of its location outside New York City’s 12-mile blast zone and the 500-year flood zone, the Hawthorne facility is well-positioned to deliver disaster recovery solutions, including business continuity workspace.”

The Hawthorne data center, like all TierPoint facilities, meets compliance standards for HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GLBA and SOC 2 Type II. TierPoint also holds EU-US Privacy Shield certification and ITAR registration on a company-wide basis.
