TierPoint Appoints Four New Technology and Operations Leadership Positions

TierPoint, a U.S. provider of cloud hosting, colocation, managed services and disaster recovery solutions, announced the appointments of four industry veterans, Terry Morrison, Octavio Morales, Robert Hicks, and Keith Markley, to key leadership roles within the company’s technology and operations management team.

Terry Morrison has been named Senior Vice President, Technology. In that role, he is responsible for leading the company’s technology initiatives in support of cloud computing and managed services. He will also manage the organization’s IT, network design, and engineering architecture teams.

Mr. Morrison has more than 20 years of industry engineering and management experience, including as a co-founder of Perimeter Technology Center, which was purchased by TierPoint in 2011. Most recently, Morrison served as Senior Vice President, Engineering and Facilities for TierPoint.

Tierpoint Data Centers

Morales, Hicks, and Markley have each been named a Senior Vice President of Operations. They will oversee the company’s growing collection of enterprise-grade data centers, which combined (pro forma for the Cosentry acquisition announced last week) will include 38 facilities and nearly 600,000 square feet of data center space.

Responsible for local operations and data centers in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Washington, Octavio Morales is an industry veteran with extensive accomplishments in the LAN, MAN, and data center markets at the semiconductor, systems, and service provider levels.

Morales has over 30 years of success leading startups and established companies, including co-founding TierPoint in Spokane in 2003 and serving as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) until the company’s acquisition in 2012 (now TierPoint Spokane, LLC). He has also worked in various leadership capacities with World Wide Packets, Alcatel, Packet Engines, and NCR. Morales most recently served as General Manager for TierPoint’s Pacific Northwest region.

The Xand Acquisition

Responsible for local operations and data centers in Arkansas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, Robert Hicks has more than 30 years of experience in the industry. He joined TierPoint as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Pennsylvania, through the company’s acquisition of Xand in 2014.

Prior to joining TierPoint, Mr. Hicks served in senior positions at DBSi in Pennsylvania and at two Florida-based system integrators, where he worked in sales leadership and business management. Prior to that, he worked in various roles within the IS and engineering departments of a Fortune 500 company.

Responsible for local operations and data centers in Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin, Keith Markley has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across sales, operations, marketing, and customer support.

Mr. Markley joined TierPoint through its 2014 acquisition of Xand, where he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO). His prior experience includes leadership positions at various companies, including LAI Holdings, DSL.net, Covad Communications, and New England Fiber Communications.
