BCC Research: Global Cloud and IoT Storage Market to Reach $27.3 Billion by 2022

April 2018 – The global Cloud and IoT Storage market was valued at $6.9 billion in 2016, and is forecasted to grow by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.7% through 2022, when it will be worth an estimated $27.3 billion, according to a new report by BCC Research, ‘Cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) Storage Technologies: Global Markets to 2022.’ Read further.

“Significantly, the storage increases are occurring regardless of whether or not business revenues or employee headcount remains the same or rises. Nearly two-thirds of businesses, 63 percent, say their most important storage priority over the next three years is ensuring adequate, efficient storage capacity for the business needs,” said BCC Research report author Michael Sullivan.

VMware Extends IoT Strategy with New Edge Computing Solutions

March 2018 – VMware’s next chapter of its Internet of Things (IoT) strategy will focus on delivering new edge computing solutions for specific use cases including Asset Management and Smart Surveillance. These edge solutions will feature VMware vSAN hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) software, VMware vSphere and VMware Pulse IoT Center, and will be developed in collaboration with partners including Axis Communications and Wipro, among others. July 2018 – Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to partner with Siemens to foster the industrial Internet of Things (IoT) in China. The two companies will leverage each other’s technologies and industry resources to build a unique IoT solution to support Industrie 4.0, China’s manufacturing upgrade and transformation and other industrial Internet initiatives. 451 Research: Clear Disconnect Between IT and Operational Technology Stakeholders on IoT Projects

May 2018 – The latest 451 Research Voice of the Enterprise (VotE) survey shows that there is a clear disconnect between IT and operational technology (OT) on Internet of Things (IoT) projects. According to the 451 Research survey, only one-third of OT respondents (34%) said they ‘cooperate closely with IT’ on IoT projects from conception to operations. While a relatively small group of respondents said they were in ‘active conflict’ with IT over IoT, OT professionals are four times more likely to characterize their relationship with IT that way.
