Veeam Software Hires Anand Eswaran as New CEO

Backup, recovery and data management solutions provider, Veeam Software, has named Anand Eswaran as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a member of the Veeam’s Board of Directors. Bill Largent, the current CEO, is stepping down to focus on his responsibilities as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Anand Eswaran comes to Veeam Software after a successful term as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at RingCentral, where he oversaw exponential development and client expansion. The firm reported ARR of $1.6 billion in its most recent financial results under Eswaran’s leadership, a 39 percent rise year-over-year.

Veeam, which has over 400,000 customers and a revenue of $1 billion this year, is at the center of the data ecosystem, orchestrating data flow, control, and trusted security in every IT environment and across hybrid cloud.

“Veeam is a unique company that is growing significantly faster than the market. I am delighted to be joining such a talented team at an exciting time in its journey,” said Anand Eswaran, the newly appointed CEO at Veeam.

Anand Eswaran’s strategic vision, inclusive leadership, and growth track record would bring the ideal experience to take Veeam Software to the next $1 billion in ARR and beyond. He oversaw Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Services, Customer Care, Operations, Information Technology, and Human Resources at RingCentral.

Prior to joining RingCentral, Mr. Eswaran was the worldwide head of Microsoft’s Enterprise Commercial and Public Sector division; previously in his Microsoft career, he headed a global team of 24,000 employees in Microsoft Services, Industry Solutions, Digital, Customer Care, and Customer Success.

“Veeam is a unique company that is growing significantly faster than the market. I am delighted to be joining such a talented team at an exciting time in its journey,” said Anand Eswaran, the newly appointed CEO at Veeam. “Data is exploding and has become one of the most important assets for all organizations. As such, data management, security and protection are pivotal to the way organizations operate today, and failure to have a robust strategy can be catastrophic. Veeam has a unique opportunity to break away as we sit in the middle of the data ecosystem, with the most robust ransomware protection and ability to protect data wherever it may reside.”

Prior to joining Microsoft, Eswaran was the Executive Vice President of SAP’s $5.4 billion Global Services division, where he led a team of 17,000 business process and technology experts to help customers and partners create more value using SAP’s enterprise applications. He has also held positions with HP as Vice President of Global Software Services, Vignette (now OpenText) as Vice President of Global Professional Services, and Braun Consulting as Senior Manager (now Fair Isaac).

Developing New Business Models

Over the last 15 years, Bill Largent has been a backbone of the Veeam organization. Veeam Software had a record year of profitable growth in 2021 under Largent’s leadership, and was named a Leader by Gartner in its 2021 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Backup and Recovery Solutions for the fifth time – the second year as the highest ability to execute – while securing the second position worldwide in terms of market share.

“The data management landscape is evolving at an exponential pace. Veeam is the unequivocal market leader, and is the most trusted partner to help customers securely navigate the complexity of protecting their data to keep their business running; to bolster this position we continue to challenge the status quo, innovate, and ensure we are anticipating customer needs,” said Bill Largent, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Veeam Software. “I am excited to welcome Anand as Veeam’s new CEO. Anand brings extensive experience in developing new business models, executing on market expansion and driving growth with an inclusive purpose-led and people-first culture. To have someone with Anand’s experience on board will lead us into a new era of success, as we further accelerate into the cloud and evaluate the opportunity for Veeam to be a publicly traded company in the future.”
