Vend: From Monolith to Microservices with Amazon ECS

On this episode of This is My Architecture, Nick Walker, Principal Platform Engineer at Vend shows us how they migrated from a PHP-based monolith to a microservices architecture. Using the Amazon EC2 Elastic Container Service (ECS), AWS Elastic Load Balancers, Hashicorp’s Consul and OpenResty (an NginX variant), they have a service routing and discovery system that gives their developers the ability to quickly roll out new services and perform A/B testing on these services.
