Vertiv Unveils 3D Product Configurator and VR Viewer for Its Network Edge Designs

Vertiv, a global vendor delivering data center power, cooling and IT infrastructure solutions and services that extend from the cloud to the edge of the network, together with Axonom – a global provider of visual and virtual product configurator software, has developed a visual solution layout and virtual reality experience center to create virtual reality showcases for Vertiv’s data center solutions.

This VR experience would give data center professionals a new way to interact with Vertiv’s configurable rack, row, and site level solutions and learn how the company is supporting IT ecosystems from core to edge.

“This virtual reality experience allows our conference visitors to work through design complexities in a way that brings these Vertiv data center environments to life,” said Jennifer Renaud, vice president of marketing for Vertiv in the Americas.

The Vertiv experience center features Axonom’s Powertrak 3D Product Configurator and Powertrak VRoom. Together, these two Axonom solutions would allow conference attendees to visualize Vertiv rack and row products, custom design an edge infrastructure configuration, explore it in immersive virtual reality in the booth, and share the design with others using mobile smartphone-based headsets. The user-created designs are a conversation starter to explore infrastructure solutions for data centers of all sizes. An upcoming conference where Vertiv will use this new VR experience center, will be at Dell Technologies World Conference this week in Las Vegas, NV.

“The edge of the network is more critical and more complex than ever before,” said Jennifer Renaud, vice president of marketing for Vertiv in the Americas. “This virtual reality experience allows visitors to our booth to work through design complexities in a way that brings these environments to life.”

Edge Network Solutions

Vertiv representatives will guide attendees through the edge solution design using the Powertrak 3D Product Configurator. The process begins by selecting a location (server room, building exterior or tower site) where the edge solution will be placed. Using three-dimensional product models, the user will choose a series of floor and rackmount power, cooling, servers, storage, and switch technologies and populate a room or rack. When the configuration is complete, the user will wear an HTC VIVE Pro headset to explore the design in the local data hub using Powertrak VRoom.

This immersive VR experience would enable attendees to navigate the environment, observe the equipment, and grasp how each piece is placed for optimal performance. Conference attendees will also be given a personal Vertiv VR viewer and a link to their specific design to share with colleagues and decision-makers via smartphone.

“Vertiv is at the forefront of the datacenter infrastructure and services industry by adopting transformative technology to address the needs of the modern consumer,” said Mike Belongie, COO of Axonom. “Sales and marketing professionals find Powertrak 3D CPQ and VR a compelling platform to strengthen how they communicate, educate, and present customizable products to customers with unique needs. These solutions are reshaping how consumers learn, validate, and order configurable products in configurable environments.”

Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, USA, Vertiv employs around 20,000 people and does business in more than 130 countries. The company would solve the most important challenges facing today’s data centers, communication networks and commercial and industrial facilities with a portfolio of power, cooling and IT infrastructure solutions and services that extends from the cloud to the edge of the network.
