ViaWest’s Minneapolis colocation data center has received the ‘Tier III Constructed Facility’ certification from Uptime Institute. Uptime Institute’s tier certification process is a leading standard for differentiating the quality and reliability of data centers around the world.
“We are proud that our Minneapolis Data Center is now among our growing list of data centers certified by Uptime Institute for industry-leading reliability,” said Dave Leonard, Chief Data Center Officer, ViaWest. “This marks our fourth Tier III Constructed Facility certified data center. Tier III data centers are concurrently maintainable, meaning they require no shutdowns for equipment replacement and maintenance. ”
From Tier I for spaces providing power for data center operations to Tier IV for fault tolerant facilities, Uptime Institute’s tier system would establish a consistent set of criteria for the industry.
Built in 2013, the ViaWest Minneapolis colocation data center would feature best-in-class networking and cooling systems, with 3,000 tons of redundant, fault-tolerant capacity and a density capacity availability of over 1,500 watts per square foot. Additionally, it offers an energy-efficient Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) figure, projected at 1.3 at full capacity.
