Once a domain name has been registered, it will remain live on the Internet until it has expired. Once expired, the registry for the domain name will (after a short wait) remove the domain name from it’s records and make it available for public purchase.
Fasthosts will automatically renew your domain name for you 30 days before the renewal date, unless you specifically cancel the auto-renewal through your control panel. You can change the renewal options of a domain at any time.
Canceling a domain name renewal doesn’t cancel the hosting on a domain name. If you would also like to cancel the hosting associated with your domain name, our article Cancelling an account or package will show you how. This guide can be found here: https://help.fasthosts.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/494
Once a domain has been renewed, the payment cannot be refunded. Please ensure that you cancel the auto-renewal more than 30 days in advance of the renewal date if you do not want to renew. You will not receive an automatic renewal reminder for domain names that have been set to expire.
