The addition of VPLS’s expansive service offerings and facilities provide existing Carrier-1 customers new options for geographic diversity and enhanced solutions,” said Julia Morgan, President at Carrier-1.

The Carrier-1 purchase gives VPLS a fourth site in Dallas, allowing it to offer a broader choice of goods and services to Carrier-1 clients as well as regional and geographic growth opportunities to the VPLS customer base.

The deal takes the total number of VPLS data center sites in the United States to 11 and the number of network nodes to 17. The site contains 8.6 acres of land, a 106,000-square-foot data center, and a 10 MW power plant with N+1 electrical and N+2 mechanical systems.

The acquisition of Carrier-1 provides VPLS an opportunity to deepen our relationships with these customers.”
