The Web Werks and Iron Mountain Data Centers joint venture has announced the opening of their first data center in Bengaluru, India. The BLR-1 data center is housed in an 80,000-square-foot building and has a Tier III architecture that can accommodate an IT load of up to 4MW. The facility is located in the highly desirable neighborhood of Whitefield, which serves as a gateway to southern regions of India.
According to Nikhil Rathi, founder and CEO of Web Werks, the new data center will cater to the increasing demand from hyperscalers and enterprises. “We are excited to offer our new consumers in South India dependable and adaptable colocation, cloud, storage, and network services. We are appreciative of the assistance provided by the Government of Karnataka as we continue to expand our operations on a national scale with the inclusion of this data center.”
The BLR-1 data center is expected to help the Web Werks – Iron Mountain JV meet the growing demand for networked, compliance, and environmentally sustainable data center services in the region. According to the data center joint venture, Bengaluru is experiencing a high demand for data-driven services, cloud computing, and colocation, making it an emerging market for data centers.
Mumbai and Hyderabad
The Web Werks – Iron Mountain JV has made significant investments to establish a ‘String of Digital Pearls’ across India, as part of its commitment to achieving organizational efficiency. The joint venture recently opened its second data center in the city of Navi Mumbai and is preparing to open its first data center in Hyderabad. At the Global Investors Summit in Uttar Pradesh in 2022, the JV announced its intention to engage in a new hyperscale data center in Noida.
