What is an SSL, and how does it work?
An SSL, or Secure Socket Layer, helps to secure an internet connection and protect any data that is transferred between a browser and a web server.
Why is an SSL important?
An SSL is important as it keeps any personal information that your visitors may enter encrypted, or unable to be read by outside eyes. It also builds trust with your site’s visitors, as they know that your site is a safe one to surf, shop, or sign up on.
Types of SSL Certificates:
There are three main types of SSL certificates. They are Domain Validation Certificates, Organization Validation Certificates, and Extended Validation Certificates. The latter two are only for business, and most new websites will be good with the Domain Validation Certificate.
