What is FTP?

FTP is a standard network protocol used to move or copy a file from one place to another.

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is used to move data which may not be sent via traditional means because it is either too large, or perhaps particularly sensitive.

FTP requires a software package to input the information on to the server.

There are many types of FTP, however in its most simple form you can enter your username and password into the relevant software package and enter the name of the host that you will be sending the file to.
