What is SMTP?
“Simple Mail Transfer Protocol” or SMTP is the language used by email servers to communicate with each other.
SMTP also refers to the email server from which mail may be retrieved.
Email programs running on desktop computers and workstations communicate with an SMTP server using different protocols, usually POP or IMAP.
SMTP servers must be managed by knowledgeable professionals who ensure that settings are adjusted correctly for performance, security, and the prevention of misuse.
