Who is the Sale Sharks new main sponsor for 2009?

Former Guinness Premiership champions Sale Sharks are aiming to get back to the top in 2010 with the help of a record seven figure sponsorship deal from new main backers UKFast.

UKFast, the UK’s leading hosting provider, has taken the step up to principal sponsor after a decade of supporting the Edgeley Park-based club as a technical sponsor. The Sharks are already reinvesting the record three-year deal into building a title attack for both domestic and European competitions.

While, the French exodus has been notable, the Sharks have already bolstered their team with the capture of two World Cup winning Englishmen – Ben Cohen on the wing and Jason Robinson in the coaching dugout. Fijian powerhouse back row forward Sisa Koyamaibole has also been announced and joins a side with strength in depth.

Sale have frustratingly finished just one place outside of the Premiership playoffs for the last two years but new director of rugby Kingsley Jones believes the new signings combined with current players, such as British Lion Andrew Sheridan, Matthew Tait, Dwayne Peel and Mark Cueto, will put the club in a strong position to compete for silverware next season.

“Finishing 5th last season was frustrating but we are already looking forward with excitement to the new season,” comments Kingsley Jones. “Our new sponsorship deal with long-term corporate partners UKFast is a central part of our assault on the title and with Ben and Jason on board we are very confident.”

“For almost a decade we have been honoured to be a key supporter of the Sharks as they have grown into one of the top clubs in Europe and now we are delighted to be their new main sponsor,” adds UKFast MD Lawrence Jones. “The Sharks’ philosophy of dedication to excellence to achieve success matches ours and when they lift the Heineken Cup next May I will be thrilled to see the UKFast logo bold and proud on their chests.”

The record sponsorship deal comes as UKFast is rebranding its image to more closely reflect the virtues of speed and reliability that have underpinned the hosting expert’s continued growth. It also represents Lawrence Jones’ bold yet shrewd decision to reinvest a portion of his company’s cash reserves into boosting UKFast’s profile when others are shrinking away under cost-cutting measures.
