Windstream Wholesale, a provider of advanced optical solutions, has reported that the Telxius cable landing station in Boca Raton, Florida, has been linked to its core network. Telxius is a neutral telecommunications infrastructure provider with a diverse portfolio of tower and submarine cable assets.
Telxius owns the South America-1 (SAm-1) cable system, and the Boca Raton cable landing station is its terminal station. Windstream Wholesale also has connections to Telxius’ landing stations in Jacksonville, Florida, and in Virginia Beach, the landing point of the next-generation Dunant and Marea subsea cable systems.
“We are excited to expand our highly successful partnership with Telxius,” said Joe Scattareggia, executive vice president of Windstream Wholesale. “Our collaboration with Telxius is providing customers with ultra-high capacity connectivity and diversity options coast to coast to major peering locations throughout the U.S., Latin America and beyond.”
South America-1 (SAm-1)
SAm-1 is a subsea fiber-optic cable ring on the seabed surrounding Latin America with a reach of nearly 25,000 kilometers, making it one of the world’s longest submarine cable systems. In addition to the trans-Andean and trans-Guatemalan terrestrial backbones, it has fiber route extensions to Ecuador, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. It also links the Caribbean, Atlantic, and Pacific coasts of the United States. Its northernmost landing point is Boca Raton.
“We are proud to be extending our collaboration with Windstream Wholesale with the addition of Boca Raton to their network,” said Enrique Valdés, sales vice president, Northern Region, Telxius Cable. “Windstream’s network is already connecting our landing stations of Jacksonville and Virginia Beach to all international hubs in the U.S. like Miami, Richmond and Ashburn.”
Domestic and Foreign Connectivity
For Windstream Wholesale customers, the alliance between Windstream and Telxius would help improve both domestic and foreign connectivity options. Windstream would offer a wide range of high-bandwidth WAN benefits in the United States, including low-latency transport to major data and regional hubs such as Miami, New York City, Dallas, Los Angeles, and San Jose. Diverse routing options help secure networks from outages while providing coast-to-coast transport and access to thousands of Windstream-lit buildings in the United States.
Windstream Wholesale provides a variety of complementary network and communications solutions to wholesale and resale customers, including SD-WAN Wholesale, proprietary OfficeSuite White Label, and Cloud SIP and PR, in addition to Wavelengths, Ethernet Solutions, and Dedicated Internet Access.
