Global IT solutions, consulting and business process services company Wipro has acquired Edgile for an undisclosed sum of money. Edgile is a transformational cybersecurity consulting firm specialized in risk and compliance, information and cloud security, and digital identity.
Founded in 23001, Edgile is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with offices located across the United States. Edgile’s varied customer base would include 20 percent of Fortune 500 firms, including 30 percent of the Fortune 100.
Edgile is known for its business-aligned cybersecurity expertise, comprehensive grasp of the evolving regulatory environment, and the ability to help safeguard enterprises through cloud migrations. In addition, the merged organization would be able to provide greater value in strategic cybersecurity services thanks to the company’s ‘strategy-first’ approach and ‘Quick Start’ solutions.
Wipro and Edgile will collaborate to create Wipro CyberTransform, an integrated cybersecurity suite that would enable businesses better manage cybersecurity risk in the boardroom, invest in robust cyber strategies, and realize the benefits of practical security in action.
Wipro CyberTransform, in cooperation with a large number of Wipro and Edgile alliance partners, would enable businesses to accelerate their digital transformation and operate in virtual, digital supply chains in a highly secure way.
“Adding Edgile’s strategic consulting capabilities and launching Wipro CyberTransform are significant milestones on our journey to becoming the trusted partner to security leaders and boardroom stakeholders,” said Tony Buffomante, Senior VP & Global Head, Cybersecurity & Risk Services, Wipro. “I see the team blending very well with Wipro’s CyberSecurists to deliver transformational cybersecurity on a global scale.”
Subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, the deal is expected to close by March 31, 2022.
Bolstering Wipro’s Cybersecurity Business
“We are immensely thrilled to join Wipro, a company we admire for its values and deep technology capabilities,” said Don Elledge, Chief Executive Officer, Edgile. “Our collective full spectrum of cybersecurity risk consulting and security management capabilities will help our global customers to continue to securely embrace their digital transformation journey and sustain their on-going risk management priorities.”
Wipro bolstered its cybersecurity business earlier this year by acquiring Ampion, a major provider of cybersecurity services in Australia, as well as the cybersecurity practice at Capco, a renowned BFSI consultant in Europe and the United States. Additionally, the business continues to invest in innovative cybersecurity start-ups through its Wipro Ventures arm, underscoring the company’s strong commitment to offering industry-leading cybersecurity solutions across industries and countries.
As a result of this deal, Abry Partners, a minority private equity investor in Edgile, will completely depart the company. For the transaction, Piper Sandler functioned as Edgile’s financial adviser and Stone Key Partners acted as Wipro’s financial advisor.
