Zadara Storage, a provider of enterprise-grade Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS), has announced expanded availability in Europe for its Virtual Private Storage Array (VPSA) service via its partnership with Microsoft Azure. Azure cloud users now have access to the full Zadara VPSA functionality within European Union boundaries.
With this announcement, Azure users in Europe can fully leverage the Zadara VPSA to run Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) workloads on both file (NFS and CIFS) as well as block (iSCSI) storage with the performance, reliability and privacy of dedicated local storage, while preserving the scale, flexibility and economics of cloud-based multi-tenant solutions.
The Zadara Storage offering would provide Microsoft Azure customers with unique capabilities such as data encryption, snapshots, remote replication, clustering and support for large volumes. The company’s expanded presence will also allow existing Zadara On-Premise as-a-Service (OPaaS) customers to replicate to Azure’s Western Europe region.
Add or Remove Drives
“Our rapid expansion of European business and coverage is a demonstration of the high demand for our value-added VPSA solutions,” said Noam Shendar, vice president of business development of Zadara Storage. “Azure users in Europe can now easily access fully-featured, on-demand, enterprise-grade block and file storage with a 100% data availability SLA and only a one-hour commitment.”
Zadara Storage provides its customers with the flexibility to select drive types and RAID levels for their storage. Users are enabled to configure their own unique set of SSDs and hard drives that are private and not shared with anyone else, which avoids the “noisy neighbor” problem. Users can also add or remove drives, downgrade controller performance, move from SSDs to disks, and fine tune other storage needs – allowing agility and control in a flexible, elastic, pay-as-you-go model.
