Worldwide communications infrastructure platform, Zayo Group, has hired Bill Long as its new Chief Product Officer. Bill Long is a seasoned telecoms and technology professional. He joins Zayo from Equinix where he held the position of Senior Vice President of Product Management. At Equinix, Mr. Long was in charge of the company’s worldwide interconnection and data center products’ overall growth and profitability.
Bill Long has worked in the telecommunications sector for about 20 years. His areas of expertise include enterprise and wholesale voice, interconnection, and infrastructure services, as well as product and business development.

Bill Long worked with Level 3 Communications for a number of years before joining Equinix, serving as the company’s Vice President of Voice Services, Senior Director of Voice Product Development, and Director of Emerging Opportunities.

This appointment of Long as chief product officer comes on the heels of a transformative year for Zayo. The firm launched Zeus, a subsea route that connects the UK and continental Europe, which is the company’s greatest organic network growth to date. Zeus includes long-haul dark fiber, 400 Gbps (400G) upgrades, and subsea routes all over the world.
Additionally, Zayo recently acquired QOS Networks, positioning the business as one of the leading suppliers of secured edge networking services. It also acquired Education Networks of America to offer high-quality managed services and customer care to customers in the education, library, community healthcare, and public sector.
