Zayo Unveils Its Edge Network Solutions

Zayo Group

In order to assist businesses in improving user experiences from the end user to the cloud and allowing greater network speed, security, and reliability, Zayo has announced the debut of its Edge Network Solutions portfolio. According to Zayo, its new portfolio of Edge Network Solutions offers some of the most reliable and adaptable edge-to-core-to-cloud networking services available.

“Multi-cloud network demand is the basis of Zayo’s Edge Network Solutions,” said Frank Cittadino, Senior Vice President of Edge Services at Zayo. “As industries continue to digitally transform, expand hybrid, and remote work environments, and adopt emerging technologies, they need an agile and borderless network that fuels around-the-clock operations. Zayo has designed an edge solution to do just that. By connecting the edge to the core to the cloud, we help relieve IT headaches and meet our customers’ business needs now and in the future.”

With the help of the company’s recent acquisition of QOS Networks, Zayo’s new portfolio of Edge Network Solutions would provide one of the most adaptable edge-to-core-to-cloud networking solutions and services on the market. It is built on the foundation of the company’s global network, cloud connectivity solutions, and deep edge expertise.

The following are some examples of the genuine wide-area network (WAN) transformation capabilities offered by Zayo’s Edge Network Solutions, which extend beyond local-area networks (LAN) to the cloud:

  • Software-Defined Wide-Area Network (SD-WAN) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) – Connecting users and the cloud with a consistent security posture and resilient network technology will improve application performance regardless of location or technology
  • Unified Communication as a Service (UCaaS) – Utilize a communication system that combines phone, chat, meetings, and video into a straightforward user experience to improve collaboration and maximize efficiency
  • Comprehensive Security Options – Including zero trust, SASE, cloud access security broker (CASB), network firewall, and distributed denial of service (DDoS) defense, secure every step of the multi-cloud trip from the end user to the cloud
  • Remote-Access-as-a-Service – Regardless of where corporate applications are hosted (SaaS, cloud, on-premises employing zero trust, or ephemeral edge put on user devices), increase security, performance, and responsiveness
  • Managed Circuit Aggregation – Access a wide range of service options to serve locations, including 400G and Long-Term Evolution (LTE), all on a single bill and through a single network operations center (NOC)

With approximately 200,000 devices and circuits maintained in client edge networks spanning 51 countries, 250,000 UCaaS endpoints, and more than 2 million call lines deployed, edge computing is still a focus area for Zayo. Zayo has expanded its range of edge network services by purchasing Education Networks of America (ENA) and Allstream in addition to QOS Networks.

Network Intelligence, Tech Partnerships

“Multi-cloud network demand is the basis of Zayo’s Edge Network Solutions,” said Frank Cittadino, SVP of Edge Services at Zayo.

The zInsights Portal, which is at the core of Zayo’s Edge Networking Solutions portfolio, enables an improved digital experience through network intelligence, visibility, and control of network health and performance by giving customers access to problem discovery, alerting, and resolution suggestions. This is done by giving clients a thorough view across multiple platforms, domains, and silos, from the edge to the core to the cloud.

In order to significantly decrease operational effort and enhance incident outcomes, the zInsights Portal uses an Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) strategy. This method would enable a genuine end-to-end solution, which can be crucial for improving digital experiences.

Part of the strength behind Zayo’s new Edge Network Solutions comes from alliances with VMware, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Versa. By giving clients freedom and options when choosing a vendor, Zayo’s investment in its partnership ecosystem not only increases the basic capabilities of its Edge Network Solutions but also guarantees that customers don’t feel vendor-bound.

Additionally, Zayo and Cloudbrink have agreed to a new relationship via which Zayo may offer end users access to its ultra-low latency network. Zayo can ensure that end users are never more than 5 to 20 milliseconds away from business access points and applications by using Cloudbrink technology to pro-actively offer software-only edges depending on user demand and anticipated use. Zayo has the greatest flexibility when it comes to where and when software edges are deployed because there is no reliance on proprietary edge hardware. This would enable expansion into new regions in a matter of minutes and guarantee that edges are deployed closest to end users to ensure the best experience and security.

“Cloudbrink provides secure, high-performance connectivity to deliver an in-office experience to the modern hybrid workforce,” said Prakash Mana, CEO at Cloudbrink. “By using the thousands of on-demand Cloudbrink Points-of-Presence (POPs) and Zayo’s robust network, organizations can provide their hybrid workers with a 25 times performance boost based on a dark network security model. Cloudbrink is excited to partner with Zayo to bring our customers faster and more secure business connectivity.”

Zayo’s greatest organic network expansion to date in both long-haul dark fiber deployments and 400G upgrades was made possible by the company’s investment of more than $250 million this year in growing its fiber footprint throughout the world. The remaining portion of Zayo’s 75,000-mile backbone network, which is already 400G equipped, is expected to be finished by the end of 2022.
