PEER 1 Hosting Launches its VMware-powered Public Cloud in the U.S.

Canadian hosting provider PEER 1 Hosting, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cogeco Cable Inc. (TSX: CCA), has launched its enterprise-class VMware public cloud solution, Mission Critical Cloud, in New York City, Seattle, Chicago and Salt Lake City. These new locations add to existing Mission Critical Cloud availability in Canada, the UK and Germany.

The Mission Critical Cloud hosting product was introduced last April. The enterprise-grade public cloud infrastructure solution would provide best-in-class security, built-in disaster recovery and sophisticated cloud management functions that automate day-to-day IT activities.

PEER 1 Hosting has also added some new features to its Mission Critical Cloud, these include:

  • Autoscaling – Allows users to automatically add or subtract CPUs for virtual servers based on usage.
  • Additional self-service features – Customers can create and manage advanced network configurations in Mission Critical Cloud with load balancers and site-to-site VPNs.
  • Server resource addition support – Enables customers to add additional CPU and memory without a server reboot
  • Improved credit card processing – Helps reduce fraud, simplify billing and support PCI compliance

Magento cloud hosting

At the same time, PEER 1 has introduced Magento-Optimized Build Blueprints for Mission Critical Cloud eCommerce customers. Blueprints are cloud environment templates selected from the Blueprints Marketplace or custom built, which automatically deploy complex applications. Once a solution is saved as a Blueprint, customers can launch that same configuration in a new deployment again and again – in every detail. Configurations can be replicated with a single click, from the OS, to the database, to the application, as well as any needed custom scripts.

Developed in close collaboration with Magento’s engineering team, the new Magento-Optimized Build Blueprints allow Mission Critical Cloud customers to deploy the same optimized solution that PEER 1 Hosting offers on managed hosting, but in a completely automated fashion in the public cloud.

Based in Vancouver, Canada, and founded in 1999 with European operations headquartered in Southampton, UK, PEER 1 has 19 datacenters and 21 points of presence worldwide. The company is specialized in managed hosting, dedicated servers, colocation and cloud hosting services.
